Hey, James here. Just wanted to send another quick industry innovation update. I'm always looking to share ways that my fellow musicians and I can work smarter towards creating sustainable careers.
This week, Spotify announced that all artists will now be able to link a Shopify store to their artist profile to sell merch to their listeners.
This is a big development and a step forward in turning Spotify into a platform that can actually generate meaningful profit for artists.
If you're selling your merch on Shopify already, the integration is simple.
Here's how.
If you're not on Shopify yet, they're offering a 90 Day Free Trial.
Sure, this is good news, but the caveat is that Shopify's most basic monthly plan is $29.
If you think you'll profit more than $29 per month from the merch you'll sell on Spotify, this will be a worthwhile endeavor for you. If you're not sure if the cost will pay for itself, you can make use of the 90 Day Free Trial to give it a test run.
Curious about giving this a test run? Here's how to link your Spotify account with a Shopify store.
The good news is, if you employ the free accounts of other online storefronts like BigCartel, you don't need to give them up in order to test run this new Spotify x Shopify integration. You can keep your stores separate and run the Free Trial with no risk.
I hope this was helpful. Hit me with a comment and let me know if you have any questions you need answers to! Most likely, others in the Forest Park DIY community will be wondering the same thing. I answer every email personally!

PS - I'll be launching the beta version of my Build Your Artist Brand course very soon. If you'd like to be one of the people to get in at the ground level and give it a test run for half the cost when it goes public, hit me up at james@forestparkdiy.com and let me know!
